The Ballarat club welcomes anyone who would like to improve their speaking skills to join our meetings. No previous experience is necessary; come and share your experiences with us! Our club is one of nearly 11,000 clubs world-wide in the Toastmasters International network. We offer a proven and enjoyable way to practice your communication skills in a non-threatening environment.
Toastmasters are volunteers who want to improve their own speaking and leadership skills. Members come from all walks of life; representatives from a cross-section of the community. They must be eighteen years of age to join. Our meetings are non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races and creeds.
We meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm at the Central Wendouree Bowling Club (1330 Gregory Street, Ballarat) See map in Directions link, MAIN MENU. Exceptions: Third Wednesday in June and third Wednesday in December.
How do club meetings work? • There are no official teachers in a Toastmasters club although our club is very rich in experience. • Our ten longest-serving members have accumulated around 150 years collectively of Toastmasters prowess. • All members can be involved in the running of each meeting; the various leadership roles, the speech-making and the peer related assessments / evaluations carried out during each meeting. • Speech making topics are of your own choice. • Members are friendly and supportive; there is a wide choice of people willing to offer their services as a mentor. • We believe you will become a better speaker in a very short amount of time; with improved skills and a burst of confidence.
Membership costs:
• Firstly, you are welcome to come as a visitor (at no charge) for a few meetings to get a 'taste' of the benefits of being a club member.
• Then if you decide to join, there is a once-off joining fee of $50 and twice a year there is another $50 payment to be made. (This totals to $100 annually in fees.)
